HIAB is the most widely recognised brand name for lorry loader cranes - knuckle-boom hydraulic cranes mounted directly onto heavy goods vehicles. The name has become shorthand for the whole category of truck-mounted cranes, much like Hoover for vacuum cleaners.
A lorry loader combines the transport capability of an HGV with the lifting capability of a crane. The vehicle delivers your load to site and the mounted crane places it precisely where it needs to go - without the need for a separate mobile crane or telehandler.
This makes lorry loaders an exceptionally cost-effective and efficient solution for most commercial, construction, and industrial lifting requirements. One vehicle. One operator. Job done.
Crane capacity is measured in tonne-metres (tm) - a figure that combines load weight and outreach distance. A higher tm rating means either heavier loads, greater outreach, or both. Our fleet spans 27tm to 66tm to cover the full range of typical lorry loader work.

The knuckle-boom crane places loads accurately even in confined spaces, over obstacles, or at height - where a forklift or grab truck can't reach.
tm = load weight x outreach distance. A 27tm crane lifting 3 tonnes can reach 9 metres. Understanding this helps match the right crane to your job.
All HIAB operators must hold appropriate training and qualifications. Every operator we put on site is fully certified and experienced.
